With an array of new smartphones launched every year, it’s natural to want a new phone. However, smartphones don’t come cheap. This is why a lot of people prefer getting their phone repaired when something goes wrong instead of opting for a replacement.
That said, repairing your phone isn’t always the best option. While this works for minor adjustments, it’s better to sell your phone instead of getting it repaired if:
Your Phone Is Really, Really Old
We’re not talking 2–3 years. A good phone should last you at least 2 years or even more, depending on how you use it. However, if your smartphone from six years ago keeps on freezing and you have to constantly restart it to make it work, then it’s definitely time for an upgrade.
Even if you’ve never once dropped your phone or overcharged it in all these years, the thing is, its performance is bound to deteriorate over time. And with technology constantly evolving, it’s not surprising to see your old phone being unable to support an app or feature. Repairing it won’t really fix this as the device just cannot keep up with new technology.
Repairs Cost More than the Phone Itself
If your phone is so severely broken that repairing it would cost a fortune, then you may want to reconsider your decision of having it fixed in the first place. Ask yourself the following questions: is my phone broken beyond repair? Would getting it fixed cost me way more than what the device is currently worth? Does the cost of repair outweigh the cost of selling?’
If you answered yes to any of these, then you know what to do. Instead of spending a huge amount of money on getting a battered phone fixed, sell it off and buy a new one. Extensive water damage, malware-ridden internal drive, and shattered camera lenses are all signs that repair is not a feasible option anymore.
You Still Haven’t Figured Out Your Phone
What’s the point of owning a smartphone that you can barely use? Not only does it make doing simple tasks such as syncing emails and customizing phone settings frustrating, but you also miss out on all the hidden features that your phone can do—if only you knew how to operate it!
If you’ve had your phone for quite a while now and still struggle to use it swiftly, then you might as well sell it and get one that best suits your preferences. Nobody wants to complicate their lives with a device that’s too complex to figure out. Instead of paying for minor repairs required, we recommend selling off your device for a new, unscathed and uncomplicated one.
