When Huawei first launched the MateBook X Pro in 2018, we were impressed by the many advanced features the laptop had to offer. In fact, the specs for the MateBook X Pro (2018) were so good that the need for a 2019 version seemed almost negligible.
When you keep the two models side by side, you may not immediately notice any differences. After all, the MateBook X Pro is a tough design to beat. That being said, the 2019 version does have some new features.
Here’s what the new Huawei X MateBook Pro holds for tech lovers.
The design for the new MateBook is similar to that of the 2018 version. It’s available in the same colors as the previous model, i.e., “Space Gray” and “Mystic Silver.” The frame is made using aluminum, making it thin and lightweight. In fact, the laptop weighs approximately 2.93 lbs. This makes it even thinner than the most recent Macbook.
Another thing the new Huawei laptop has in common with Apple’s product is that it also offers a USB 3.0 port. In addition, the MateBook X Pro also has two USB-C ports which support Thunderbolt 3.
However, this is far as the similarities between the MateBook X Pro and the latest Macbook go. Unlike Apple’s laptop, the MateBook X Pro has a more effective touchpad and keyboard. The tracking space offered is wider, allowing for greater accuracy and bolstering it with strong palm rejection.
One of the most noticeable differences you’ll see between the MateBook X Pro of 2018 and the MateBook X Pro of 2019 is the absence of the traditional lotus flower logo on the recent model. The symbol is slowly disappearing from Huawei merchandise, and the latest MateBook X isn’t one to hold on to an outdated design.
The Display and Audio
The MateBook X Pro incorporates a 3:2 aspect ratio. But while the display gives off rich and bright colors, there is room for improvement in future models to include matte display options that help against glare. The 3:2 aspect ratio has another advantage; it allows users to view a greater amount of content vertically.
The keyboard is bit shallow compared to the previous model. However, it’s extremely easy to use and makes typing an even smoother process with its backlighting system.
The four speakers embedded on the top deck allow for consistent audio. The MateBook X Pro comes with Dolby software that lets users tune sounds for all sorts of audio profiles, such as movies, music, or voice recordings.
